Save the Date Saturday, September 12th at Bucks County Community College, East Entrance

The 5th Annual Car Show for Autism will be held in the lower parking lot of the beautiful Newtown campus of Bucks County Community College on Saturday from 4 PM to 8 PM.

The growing popularity of the family-friendly event prompted the move to a bigger venue. Join us for an enjoyable summer evening of fun, music, prizes, and food. The ever-popular touch-a-truck and first responder exhibits, along with a variety of other family-friendly activities are planned again this year for the children. A $10 suggested parking donation for the general public. With your donation, you will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win a phenomenal prize. (Do not need to be present to win.)

Trophies will be awarded to the Top 25 entrees with special awards presented to Best of Show, People’s Choice, and the President’s Award.

Trophies will be awarded to thirteen classes of vehicles and motorcycles with special awards presented to Best of Show, People’s Choice, and Highest Club Participation.

Proceeds from the car show will be used to hire and train Early Intensive Behavioral Intervention (EIBI) therapists as part of Potential’s goal to end the waitlist of area children in need of support.

3rd Car Show for Autism was our first air-conditioned one

The elements are a car show’s planner worst nightmare, unless the show can be held indoors. And that is exactly what happend to us.

Thanks to the Newtown Athletic Club (NAC) generosity, we were able to move the car show indoors, into the NAC Sports Training Center, a nice, modern and airconditioned facility. The crowds loved it, the cars, trucks and motorcycles’ owners couldn’t believe their good fortune.

“How am I going to explain to my wife that I am not sun burned and sweaty as usual?” Asked Kurt who returned to the car show with his 1942 Jeep and buddy Mike for the third year.

Everyone loved the variety of antique, classic and modern cars, the door prizes, the raffle items, the music and the food. Rob’s Automotive 65 foot tow truck was a big hit with the kids who ran up and down the trailer ramp like an obstacle course. We think they slept well that night.

The Car Show for Autism this Saturday is on, regardless of weather.

Our neighbors at the NAC were more than gracious to offer us the use of their training facility across the street (and we cannot be thankful enough). It presents some challenges, but the show will go on.

Guests: The Car Show for Autism will start at 4:00 and end at 8:00 pm. Parking will be across the street at Potential. It is free, but we would appreciate a $10 donation. There will be plenty of activities inside.

Car Owners: Registration opens at 3:00 pm and those who pre-registered online will have their spot reserved till 3:45 pm. First 100 cars receive a dash plaque. We’ll have pastic sheeting you can place under the engine block to prevent oil dripping on the carpeting. We would appreciate you bringing your own tarp to help minimize expenses and maximize the funds raised for autism treatmant.

Vendors:  You will be able to set up your booths inside, but will have to park your vehicles outside after you unload (there will be volunteers to assist you). There are electrical outlets, but if you normally bring a generator and extension cords , bring it just in case.

Food Trucks: You will park right outside the front door, so you visitors pass you on the way in. There is a very nice area on the second floor where there will be tables and chairs.

We listened to you and made improvements

We’ve listened to car owners, vendors and guests and made some improvements to the 3^rd Annual Car Show for Autism:

• We moved our car show from the heat of the day to dusk. We hope that the cooler afternoon weather in June will bring more people and make them hungry for the next improvement,
• The food trucks. Not too many food trucks, but a nice variety of cuisines and a nice balance between savory and sweet.
• The vendor alley and entertainment are in the middle of the field, so announcements can be heard easily and visiting the vendors and the cars is easy.
• Our playground is open to all children during the car show, in addition to children friendly vendors and games.
• The Touch-A-Truck is bigger and more easily accessible, in the main parking lot in front of our building. (See field layout nearby).
• We added a scavenger hunt game. Players get a ticket stamped by car owners and vendors and deposit it in a raffle for a chance to win $100 gift card to Carlucci’s Grill in Yardley (near Kohl’s)
• First 100 cars to register will receive a dash plaque. 
• We plan to mow the lawn before the car show so the grass is trimmed.
• We thank Joe Schiavonni for his generosity, donating a rebuilt 1947 Shelby Militarized and Motorized bike (the like of which was used by our paratroopers in WWII).
• Finally, a word about the weather. It’s going to be perfect, so go on and sign up today.

Car Show for Autism at Potential moves to dusk and adds food trucks

If the heat got to you during last year’s car show for autism, you are in for a pleasant change.

The 3^rd Annual Car Show for Autism will be held at 170 Pheasant Run in Newtown, on Saturday, June 9, at the cooler hours of dusk (4-8 pm) and will feature a delicious variety of food trucks for everyone’s taste: hamburgers and hotdogs, Greek pastries stuffed with cheese or meat, and savory Brazilian BBQ wraps. For dessert, enjoy a refreshing cup of water ice from Rita’s, or assorted sweets from AllofASuddenDesserts.com.

The show is free ($10 voluntary parking donation is appreciated, but not required) and geared for the whole family, including crafters oriented towards children activities (like sand table, tie dye and others), and a 65 foot monster tow truck courtesy of Rob’s Automotive. All children will also be able to enjoy the use of our autism-friendly playground which was built in part with proceeds from last year’s car show.

Of course, don’t forget the cars, trucks, and motorcycles. Rows and rows of polished classic, antique and late model sports cars.

Returning crowd favorites are Vic’s 2015 red Ferrari, Kurt and Mike’s WWII Jeep and Joe’s rebuilt, motorized and militarized 1947 Shelby Bike (used by our paratroopers in WWII) which could be yours in a special raffle to be held at the conclusion of the car show ($2,500 value for a $10 ticket).

Potential’s Director of Development, Gadi Naaman, remembers last year’s car show: “My daughter and grandson came to the car show, but I barely had a chance to visit with them, I guess I was no match for the Touch-A-Truck area, which included a fire truck, a gigantic tow truck, a WWII Jeep, and a colorful car which the kids could actually sign. People really enjoyed those additions to the show.”

All proceeds go towards the treatment of autism to help fulfill Potential’s vision to create a world where every person with autism can lead a successful life of value. The coolest and oldest car (1915) just joined the car show

A 1915 Landover Race Car just became the oldest car to register for the show. Next oldest is a 1931 Ford Model A withPA Road markings. You’ve got to join them, or come see them. Very cool.

Registration fee for crafters is $35 till April 30, $45 after that. You’ll receive 10×10 space (Tables are NOT provided. with room to park a car or van behind your space).

We ask that you provide a gift certificate or a basket we can auction during the car show (suggested value, $35+).
